The vertical machining center refers to the machining center set vertically with the spindle axis and the workbench, which is mainly applicable to the processing of complex parts such as plates, plates, molds and small shells. The vertical machining center can complete such processes as milling, boring, drilling, tapping and thread cutting. The vertical machining center is at least three-axis and two-linkage, which can generally achieve three-axis and three-linkage. Some can carry out five-axis and six-axis control.

The column height of the vertical machining center is limited, and the machining range of the box-type workpiece should be reduced, which is the disadvantage of the vertical machining center. However, the workpiece clamping and positioning of the vertical machining center is convenient; The movement track of the cutting tool is easy to observe, the debugging program is convenient to check and measure, and the problem can be found in time, and the machine can be stopped or modified; The cooling condition is easy to establish, and the cutting fluid can directly reach the tool and machining surface; The three coordinate axes are consistent with the Cartesian coordinate system, and the visual perception is consistent with the pattern perspective. The chips are easy to be removed and dropped to avoid scratching the processed surface. Compared with the corresponding horizontal machining center, the structure is simple, the floor area is small, and the price is low.
