The Process Characteristics of Flat Bed CNC Lathe

Flat Bed CNC Lathe is a widely used machining process in ordinary lathe machining, with the main characteristics of:

1、 Easy to ensure positional accuracy between various machining surfaces. During turning, the workpiece rotates around a fixed axis as the main motion, and each surface of an ordinary lathe has the same rotation axis. Therefore, the positional accuracy of each machined surface is easy to control and ensure.

2、 The cutting process is relatively smooth. In general, the turning process is continuous, unlike milling and planing. In a single cutting process of an ordinary lathe, the cutting teeth are cut in and out multiple times, resulting in impacts. When the geometric shape of the tool, as well as the AP and F, are constant, the cross-sectional size of the cutting layer remains stable, and the cutting area and cutting force remain basically unchanged. Therefore, the cutting process is more stable than milling and planing. Due to the fact that the main motion of turning is rotary motion, which avoids the influence of inertial forces and impacts, turning allows for the use of larger cutting amounts for high-speed or strong cutting, which is beneficial for improving productivity.

3、 The tool is simple. A regular lathe tool is a relatively simple type of machine tool tool, which is convenient for manufacturing, grinding, and installation.
